I once (long ago) liked Glenn Greenwald. We all let ourselves get misled by shallow first impressions.

And what were you saying about not sympathizing with idiots? (I got sick of Greenwald’s rants when he spent most of his time railing against the Iraq war, and I strongly agreed with him.)

My earlier comment meant that I’m often aligned politically with the EFF (I believe strongly in Net Neutrality, free speech, Intellectual Property reform), but I hung up my EFF hat and stopped donating when they started cuddling up with the Tea Party. I find myself agreeing with dudebro political positions for carefully considered reasons, but I also find myself annoyed at prominent people on that end of the spectrum for being no more capable of nuance than anyone else.
