That they want to return to a “safe” era is always a lie. And it’s identifiable as a lie because “safety” was always just a little bit in the past relative to the lifetime of the racist. 1940, 1900, 1980, 2016.

What they want is license. There used to a world where “safety” meant mob violence and murders in the night. There used to be a world where if you raped the right person, it wasn’t rape. That’s what all white supremacists, be they the Red Shirts or the British Empire, have stood for. A system in which the basic premise is “We decide, everyone else gets the remainder. We will not be consistent, let alone fair.”

Too bad he couldn’t go back and speak with the Founding Fathers about bringing people not like them, by force, to a new land where they got to be owned by some other person. Maybe he could have stopped them from initiating that icky race mixing.
