This guy may be in real trouble. London is the world’s capital for libel suits. Unlike in the US, where truth is an absolute defense against libel and slander charges, in Britain the defendant has to prove that he is innocent of the accusations. Rich sheikhs and others and others have used this to file lawsuits in London that they couldn’t win here.

Keep us posted, Charles. The man may need contributions to his legal defense.

What a weird set-up. How would the court keep the accuser from manufacturing statements? At least here the accuser has to prove that a statement DID exist on which the accusation can be made. I wonder how one goes about proving that they DIDN’T make a supposed statement…ugh.
