I’m thinking of a cartoon I saw many years ago (late 70s?).

It depicted Uncle Sam as a junkie and he’s shooting up. The syringe is an oil barrel.

The caption said, “I don’t care what it costs me, man. I need it.”

It’s the satirists who can tell the truth.
