I believe that it is unbecoming a 1^st world country to have people starving on its streets. I believe that on a planet which has the resources to feed, house and clothe everyone of its inhabitants, it is no more that just that the richest countries at minimum provide the base necessities when crises strike (nothing luxury, a decent meal, a decent roof over the head, decent items of clothing).

But then again, my archheretic mom instilled all sorts of commie leftie values in me, like one of my holy rules, “Thou shalt not leave my table hungry.”

To expand on this, I don’t find it heartwarming at all when I read about go fund mes for favorite teachers who can’t afford their medical bills. I love seeing communities rally for a loved one but I hate that it has to get to that point in the self proclaimed best country in the world.
