Anti-Americanism has been a feature of European politics since the Vietnam war. I grew up with it as a dual citizen in Europe in the 70s and it continues to this day. It is not dependent on who is in the WH; it is a deeply rooted antipathy to the invasion of American culture, the dependence on American military might for their own safety, etc. Obama won’t be able to cure it, as little as GWB caused it.

I hate to say it, but that is Europe’s own damn fault. They got us into not one, but two world wars. I wonder if they can even be trusted with militaries. They sure as hell haven’t proven they can. Their cultures have been exported, but God-forbid, those barbaric Americans dare to export their culture to Europe.

European anti-Americanism is very old, and goes back further than the 70s.
