I agree with you, Reine de Tout, choosing to never use hurtful labeling is wise. This is an interesting subject. Insulting or labeling is an every day item.
For me, I just don’t like to engage in destruction even if I feel disgusted. We can be passionate about an issue, disagree and still remain respectful. Sarah Palin did just that, I don’t need to question her motivations. It’s good.

Insulting with labels is no better than smearing, bashing, or just bad mouthing… All designed to hit & hurt to various degrees. The motivations are always to destroy and to shine in return. It rarely works as hoped, I think but it is all over the news in all channels, in politic life, journalism, blogs, literature…

It is challenging sometimes not to insult someone. I can think of many instances like being on my bike and a stupid […] driver cuts me off sending me in a baby stroller!

Couldn’t agree more…and yet, look upthread…”TeaBagCon”…I guess it “IS” ok to use certain terms…and not others.

Maybe the BEST approach would be to just stick to the facts and not call people on either/any side of the aisle names.
