I grew up in Detroit in the 1970’s. I keep little if any money in the car. I do need a quarter for a grocery cart at Aldi, I try to always have a quarter. The rest of change—mostly pennies, I keep for drive-up windows. I say about 42 cents total.

I have $1 in the console, change from when I gave a fiver for the toll at the Windsor/Detroit tunnel.
