That might be viable: Pass a ‘clean’ CR in exchange for a process to reduce or remove the medical device tax of the ACA. That would please Grover Norquist, and his support might prove crucial in sealing a deal.

(Assuming that Norquist isn’t assailed yet again by stupid allegations that he is compromised because his wife is Muslim.)

On top of all of the other problems with the shutdown, we now have to worry if Grover Norquist, an unelected official who makes Republicans swear to a pledge he thought up when he was 12, will be happy about any deals.

Just fucking brilliant. This does not alleviate any contempt I have for the GOP and their supporters right now…
