Ha what’s funny about that is my mom is a government lifer and her parents like your mom were children of the depression. She’s been very successful in what she does. The government as a career kind of appeals to me but it doesn’t seem to have geographic flexibility unless I went to work for State and I hear the foreign service exam is mega hard.

Working for the gov can open some very interesting doors. After a few years with the Fish & Wildlife Service, I had offers from the military, multiple universities, and the Peace Corp begged me to sign up to lead some programs in the country of my choice… as long as that country was yanno, third world.
