The neighbors *did* pay a permanent territorial price. Egypt’s treaty includes that they permanently lost Gaza, and Jordan’s treaty includes that they permanently waived any claim to the west bank.

Jordan ceded their claim in the West Bank to the PLO. Which isn’t what I would call ‘helping’. And Egypt wouldn’t take Gaza back if they were begged.

If either country would take their land BACK, we’d have a different situation on our hands.
