Have they tried the Hanban program of the Confucius Institute? That’s a Chinese government program which places native speakers in foreign schools. One of my former students is teaching in Framingham, MA, now through that program.

Failing that, would they be willing to accept a recent college graduate from a Chinese university? I know a few hundred or so. The tricky part would be to arrange the H1B visa for the teacher.

They’ve been getting teachers directly from China. I think that’s the problem. They don’t know what to do with American students, particularly those in low income schools who aren’t necessarily the most well-mannered.

I did want to suggest to you that there is a great need for science teachers who are comfortable with ELL students and know how to teach them.
