On the eve of President Bill Clinton’s inauguration in 1993, Michael Jackson performed on the Washington Mall—you could see him on Jumbotron screens placed around the area.
My Iranian friend and I wandered around listening to Jackson’s music in the background on that beautiful afternoon, with our small nieces & nephews who were more interested in pointing at the big rats running around Washington DC at dusk.
