By your logic, we shouldn’t have fought WW1 or WW2, because the president had to send out both volunteers and draftees to fight and possibly die.

I hate to accidentally put words into someone’s mouth but what I believe Steve is trying to say is that any war in Afghanistan is unwinnable and continuing it results only in lives lost for no reason.

I don’t necessarily agree with this entirely, but it is a legitimate opinion and worthy of debate. AFAIK, technically no foreign army has “won” a war in Afghanistan since Tamerlane.
