You know, I know you lean libertarian and I’ve gotten a couple libertarian buds to admit they’re sympathetic to that and they definitely agreed they’d rather the government spend more on social programs than the military. My belief is this. I believe the government since it is we the people should be investing in we the people and that means things like education, infrastructure, health care, and yes making sure people don’t go hungry. Massie is a Paul style wackjob that has his head up Von Mises’ Institute’s ass and doesn’t realize that economics is about living and breathing people.

Milton Friedman actually made an argument for universal basic income years ago. One of the major problems with a lot of philosophical libertarianism isn that it likes to pretend that everyone is starting off, right now, with the same power and opportunities. That’s falls down the moment you out come consider the relative power in negotiations between employers and potential employees, or any time you have to sign an arbitration agreement to get services.
