Just how likely are the GOP to convict Trump or any of his co-conspirators if the DNC refuses to entertain any alternative but impeachment? The days of impeachment being a purely legal matter ended in 1998, it’s now a political one and the GOP have shown time and again they’re prepared to march through Hell itself to keep the DNC from scoring any sort of victory. It’s not as though they’ll pay any less of a price at the polls in 2020 if they vote to convict than they would if they voted to acquit.

I am not talking about impeachment. I am talking about horse trading to, for example, let Junior off if trump leaves. I am talking about true criminal acts.
