That is strange. Shit happens here in the city more and more, but it’s nothing like the Chicago Projects back in the day.

The poor suburbs ringing Paris are another story. But it’s still an entirely different flavor of violence: mine was totally Old School: the local hoods had been formed by 40s film noir with Edward G. Robinson and James Carney as role models. It was a real freak show. The ones who survived were often recruited by the Chicago Police Department.
