You assign blame when the real issue, IMHO, is people not understanding what their rights are.

It is every citizen’s duty to understand what their rights are.

It is the inverse of “ignorance of the law is no excuse.”

An entire planeload of passengers and not one knew their rights? If that’s the case, then we have bigger problems.

Too many people are willing to comply and give up their rights (see Patriot Act). “I have a business conference,” “I can’t miss my connecting flight,” &c. Too many people put other things in front of their rights.

If you do not use your rights you will lose them. It is that simple. There is no way a couple CBP agents could have arrested an entire plane. But not one, not one person said “no.”
