That’s one side. The other is the legal side. The Wau Holland Foundation can only make payments when it fits their statutes and German charity laws. Paying out salaries and donating to a legal defense fund are different enough that it makes sense to have the lawyers look into it first.

My guess is that it would pretty easy to find loopholes to get money into the guy’s hands. I think this is going to be a pretty big wake-up call to how the “leakers” will be treated. In the U.S. and Europe probably life behind bars, and in any other country you’ll be killed. And Wikileaks will essentially do nothing for you.
