You know, just like the Ultra Orthodox misogynists in Israel who erroneously believe that women who sing in public are an outright attack on their religion, these Catholic Bishops are also operating in the dark. These rabid jerks actually believe that a different way of living and being is a personal attack on their faith. It’s pathetic but more importantly, it is detrimental to Americans as a whole. It is glaringly obvious to me that religious conservatism is not compatible with a free society.

It should be obvious that the U.S. has had a sector of society that was religious and conservative all along. And that freedom has nevertheless continued to exist.

Freedom of religion includes freedom to be conservative in one’s religious and social beliefs.

If we take your claim as fact, that the religious conservatism is incompatible with freedom, [you are wrong about that, but let’s pretend] and if we also take as fundamental that freedom should be preserved at all costs, then you have established the necessity and desirability of revoking the constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion.

It’s pretty clear from your characterization of the community of Catholic bishops as “rabid jerks” that your heart would not object to this conclusion of the mind.

So, do you hold that the Catholic faith should be proscribed in the U.S., as an essential step to the preservation of liberty? By your post, you do. Do you take any of it back?
