Short answer? Sour grapes. Benghazi was supposed to be Obama’s “Iranian Hostage Crisis,” to be that one big foreign policy clusterfuck that was such a visible sign of how the world didn’t take us seriously under his leadership that they’d run under the GOP’s skirts in order to have a “real leader” at the helm. This ignores the reality that Romney has zero foreign policy experience and his likely SecState nominee would have been John Bolton.
