Can’t speak for you Charles, but I don’t hate Hoft as a person. I feel sorry for him. I hate what he does and how he does it. Because he engages in malicious smears. And for that he deserves my pity because that’s what he thinks will get him through the day.

Maybe pity isn’t the right word? I can’t think of a good alternative, but I get where you’re coming from.
