Al Qaren and Covidiots are taking that article to mean that the other factors killed the people and not COVID so actual COVID deaths are around 10000, and they are fucking howling to the moon about it right now. (As if all of a sudden 170 thousand extra people just happened to drop dead of obesity, high blood pressure, asthma, etc. and the COVID thing was just a coincidence.)

I’ve seen that article posted by idiots, RWNJs, Karens, Russian Bots, etc. *literally* thousands of times in the past two days with almost a verbatim cut-and-paste blurb with it.

Not once have I seen anyone in the media point out this is basically a botnet of weaponized disinformation.

this thinking shows a stunning ignorance of science statistics medicine and math.

the population at large is dying from covid. the population at large has these other conditions. these other conditions do contribute to susceptibility and morbidity.

oh and 10k is still fucking appalling all on its own
