Personally, I doubt appeals to religious feelings will matter much in our political struggles.

In no small part, fundamentalist religions are about people desperate to remain in control of others.

So someone who is in such a mindset, controlling a woman’s reproductive freedom and controlling immigration are both about the same thing: control.
