But the thing to remember about that graphic (showing the artists for each state) relates only to current sales/downloads.

For NY, one could suggest any of the following represent the state’s favorite bands/groups/artists:

KISS, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Billy Joel, Sean Combs, Jay-Z, Beyonce, etc.

It’s arguable that the artist most closely associated with NY is Billy Joel (who’s from NY), and Frank Sinatra (who’s actually from NJ).
