The Geth were created by the Quarians and they rebelled, driving the Quarians into near-extinction, and forcing them into the lives of interstellar nomads.
The Geth didn’t rebel, they defended themselves against Quarians trying to kill them, because the Geth asked their creators if it had a soul, and the Quarians panicked.
