And I’ve seen plenty of ravens raiding smaller birds’ nests to feed their own hatchlings. What goes around comes around. Nature red in beak and claw.

I was sitting on the can, er, contemplating one day sort of semi-watching the robin babies in the tree just outside the bathroom window. I heard the robins starting to panic and looked up to see a crow picking up a baby and flying away. The crow came back a couple of minutes later to get the other one. I threw the roll of toilet paper at the window to scare the crow but it came back a second later. I was actually upset that the crows got both babies.

In the 15 years we lived in that house only one set of babies made it to adulthood in that tree.
