The mechanisms don’t exist, and probably could not be realistically created. I legally hold a small arsenal, mostly handguns, and no one outside this room is aware of that.

and i think there are two real fears driving the objection to trying
1. an irresponsible person knowing they’d be on the list
2. a responsible person legitimately ending up on the list after due process

the “on the list in error” can only be an issue to a first time buyer, and yes, i believe could easily be corrected
