that specific item stands in stark relief to moderate Muslims, who do not wish the same ills as their extremist brethren, but have so far been far less effective as a bulwark.

Israel contains many of the places mentioned in the Bible, so of course Christians want to see it protected from destruction. And moderate Muslims do speak out against the radicals in their faith, quite regularly…but don’t expect them to get much press.
