I know Reynolds has a bee in his bonnet when it comes to black people, but reading about these ‘flash mobs’ and ‘Apple Picking’ (the theft of iPhones, often by children) provokes a visceral racial reaction for me too.

I need to clarify this: I don’t want to go back to the days of racist policing, but when most of the criminals look greatly different from me it has a strong “otherizing effect”. I know to work against that effect, but it’s Teh Hard.
