Just like surgeons performing complex operations. Many of them go without a hitch and the patient recovers fully. A few have some bad outcomes. A subset of those have patients who die.

Dr. Carson might have some experience with that.

IIRC, the good doctor has been hit with at least six malpractice suits in his career.
