The problem with that is that California is the size of a real country. the advantage of a small state like Iowa is that it gives candidates the opportunity to compete without having a lot of money to spend. the disadvantage of Iowa and New Hampshire is that they are lilly white states which aren’t very representative of the nation as a whole. Other small states which are more diverse should get the chance to go first.

How about a National Primary Week, executed under a set of uniform rules?
