AYFKM? These are 21st-Century Republican Congresscritters. The sort who can quite easily equate “the greater good” with their “own political fortunes” - every day and twice on Sunday.

But “pissing off Trump’s base” is key: just for myself, I think that that “base” is a LOT smaller than the Trumpistas imagine - and that many (?most?) “mainstream” GOPers have a better handle on what their constituents will or won’t put up with.
