re: #404 CuriousLurker

You’re the one who brought up proof in your #388, not me. Risk or gain needs to be proved, doesn’t it? What constitutes risk/gain and to whom?

You’re entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion denying someone a right (or function or whatever you want to call it) that is a part of their citizenship shouldn’t be something done based on one’s personal, uneducated (in a legal sense) opinion, nor should it be done based solely on political partisanship and/or state’s rights, which seems to be what’s been happening. It’s a serious matter.

I thought perhaps some incidents or situations could be cited to change my mind, so I put the question out there. Be that as it may, my motivation here is completely divorced from states rights, personal issues etc. I don’t see how the thug/killer/rapist vote can be a gain for our society. Perhaps some rehabilitation process could be worked up for after some period of legal behavior but as an automatic matter of law, well no thanks.

What we have has plenty of issues, but just restoring voting rights for killers is not an idea I can get behind.
