Uh. That’s not my point. I said that because a) I’ve been in a position where I should have applied for assitance and b) I’ve had right-wingers thrown accusations of “collecting welfare checks. But, yeah, uh, I probably should be on assistance right now but I’m not.

Sorry. I just really hate to see people make a point of stating that they’ve “never been on government assistance”, since that tends to imply there’s something wrong about it. If anything, I’d say those that have actually been on it are those best equipped to discuss what it’s really like.
