The latest polls seem to show popular opinion in favor of SSM here in the same range as the “Yes” vote in Ireland. The wingnuts leaning on the theory that “A Vote of teh Peepul” would show all those homogaynazis what’s what could be sadly mistaken.

Of course we have no national referendum or initiative in the US. I used to think that we should, but after watching California for a while I’ve changed my mind. We really need to turn the Presidential election into a nationwide affair, though, in place of this state-by-state mishegas….
