Well, Nicholson’s was basically he and Burton cribbing heavily from The Killing Joke, just with less effort spent delving into the Joker’s psyche and more him being a homicidal maniac. And Ledger cribbed from Nicholson, but also mixed in a lot of the 90s era Joker development with the whole multiple choice background and sociopathic anarchy.

Aha. It is neat how they put their own spins on it any case.
