Gotta love seeing a stupid meme saying the media “never talks about Chicago” when it comes to gun violence and Chicago has strict gun laws blah blah. Okay, first off, the media does fucking talk about Chicago. In fact, wingnuts are obessed with Chicago. Secondly, acting like strict gun laws fail because of Chicago’s murder rate ignores one crucial little fact, Chicago is near Indiana which has equally lax gun laws. Our states ain’t vaccums.

I have a Lebanese friend of mine (he’s a Shi’ite who supports Trump and regurgitates right-wing propaganda while agreeing with me whenever I mock Islamophobes, it’s weird but whatever) use the same talking about Chicago and said it was a warzone.

My response? “Soooo Chicago is like Beirut circa 1985? Does Willis Tower resemble the bullet-ridden and bombed out Holiday Inn?”

His retort: “Beirut is much more safer than Chicago man”

I said: “Right, let me know when Chicago suffers a suicide bombing or two like Beirut has due to being in a hostile neighborhood and you might have a point.”

Him? He posted murder statistics to prove that Chicago is safer than Beirut despite Beirut being struck by suicide bombings.

He frustrates me a lot of times, but he’s still a good guy at heart so I’d rather be civil with him.
