From one who has been on the beach when the oil slicks move in, there is no description of the horror of the situation. Volunteers covered head to foot in slickers and goggles due to the extreme toxicity, scrambling to scrub/save whatever seabirds and mammals possible. Seeing the critters’ eyes streaming blood, scratched out in the attempt to get the oil out of their eyes, gasping their last breaths, mountains of corpses piling up on the beach… the death and stench. This can go on for weeks, day after day, as more oil flows in on the currents.

It isn’t all about money.
