He may be proved right on that score. We may end up finding the Egyptian people to have been unworthy of our support. “The people” are not always good or right after all; It’s entirely possible for them to be badly wrong or mindlessly belligerent. I don’t think the former applies to most people in Egypt, but I think the latter does apply in regards to Israel.
This is an incredibly dickish sentiment. Also, I don’t think you genuinely give a rat’s ass about Israel, it just makes a convenient MacGuffin for criticism of the political opposition. It’s all tribal bullshit with no genuine foundation at all.
