Spicy and sweet actually is a really nice combo. Looked at the ingredient list for a spicy sauce I use and the primary two (before the chile peppers) are raisins and orange juice. This stuff (and jalapeno jelly) both make really good glazing ingredients for something like salmon or meatloaf.

I also have a few jars of fruit and habanero jelly I picked up in Ft Worth a few years ago. I’ve been using that (or straight out jalapeno jelly) to make those sugar cookies with the spot of jam in the middle. Hits the sweet tooth — and then the peppers kick in! >:D

I made a homemade raspberry chile sauce that worked out really well. I reduced it just a little bit too much and so it came out a little more gummy than I’d like, leaving the meat a little dry. Lessons for next time.
