Yep. My cats did this when we merged my and the Mrs. Fish’s feline households. First, her cat would act all intimidated and just hide, presumably frightened by the unfamiliar environment; then, when she came out, her and my two cats had a brief posturing contest that established the pecking order. Now, it’s either play-fighting or one of the females is in heat.
