I think he is viable in the primary, but not the general. I’ve seen two debates with him and he comes off poorly. He’ll win the primary because he is saturating the market with ads and people who plan to vote GOP will pick him (name recognition goes a long way, as the GOP candidates are not well known.)

Look, he ran the Illinois GOP for years; that’s his primary experience. But the Illinois GOP has been a mess for as long as I can remember.

You’ve got a good point. My own take is that he can beat Quinn, but I don’t know enough about Dan Hynes to make a call there. Quinn isn’t very good, and McKenna’s ability to run lots of ads would give him a better chance than anyone we’ve had in a long time.
