Indeed, if you read the initial story from Sunday, they seemed content to just wait weeks or months for a “final report” before considering any action. And were already setting the grounds for Slager’s defense by saying there were eyewitnesses who backed up his story. The autopsy report would have blown a hole in said story, which is why it would never have been made available to the public until after the case had been closed, if ever.
