Today a neighbor of mine told me that the only reason these guys were being pirates was because the “big fishing industry” had chased them out of their traditional native fishing grounds… she teaches in a public high school btw.

I had a discussion the other day with a couple of friends who happen to be liberal. It was the worldwide economic mess that “drove” these guys to piracy according to them. Guess it doesn’t matter they been doing it for a few centuries.

It’s like the convenience store knockoffs here. Nobody resists, chances of getting caught are slim, chances of doing time are slimmer, and whatever you get is more than you had. And it is more exciting than laboring all day. When pirates start getting shot and their boats blown out of the water-then it will no longer look quite so appealing.
