Better yet, Jesus, son of Zeus :P

You joke, but I’ve read in many places that the Jesus story is a reflection of how strongly Greek culture had permeated ancient Israel by the 1st century. For one, the idea of a God and a human woman producing a son doesn’t appear anywhere in the Hebrew Bible, but it occurs all the time in Greek mythology. Jesus is more Perseus or Hercules than he is Moses or Abraham.
