re: #396 Targetpractice

Ben, if you’re providing me with health insurance as part of my compensation, then I’m not prying a damned thing from you. What you’re arguing is that you, as the employer, can pry whatever you want out of my hands to satisfy your “religious freedom.”

But hey, I’ve said before that companies like Hobby Lobby could get the government off their backs pretty easily. Just cancel their employee health insurance and pay them enough to buy their own insurance. Then they can operate guilt-free, except of course that that would rob them of the ability to run the lives of their female employees and that’s what this is really all about.

Yep. Short and simple as that.

The “we don’t want our money to pay for X” argument is laughably bad from any angle. You pay me money for the work I do for you. I then go and use that money to do all sorts of things you don’t support. You’re now an accomplice! Sure, you may not be providing for abortion/BC in my health care plan, but the raw dollars you pay me go right to the local Baby Battlez Bloodsport ring. Whatcha gonna do ‘bout it?

This is entirely, 100% about using their health care offerings to coerce their female employees into following their religious doctrine by force of economic violence. Plain and simple.
