re: #411 MsJ
My husband, the engineer, said this railroad story isnât true and itâs been around so long that it was a case study (of wrongness) in one of his engineering classes 30 years ago.
The end-point about the boosters on the space shuttle launch is false on its face. There is no way in heâll that literal rocket science would be limited by any transportation issue. The engineers didnât âwantâ anything that they didnât get. A few inches larger in diameter would be a huge delta in propulsion mass and fight dynamics.
But itâs a funny story. The Twitter thread discusses its debunking well.
