This the “We’re not conservative, we’re independent” crew I often bitch about. They literally see this as “Hurr durr, Obama is forcing us to buy CFLs, we’ll show him.”

These people also refused to get their kids inoculated against H1N1 a few years ago, because they just “knew” that the government was wrong about the potential for pandemic. That’s the mindset you’re dealing with here.
