I think IL means to say that Westerfield support Davis’ rights to not issue the marriage licenses (not that IL supports Davis). Do I have that right?
I wonder what Westerfield thinks is a less “restrictive” means for gay Kentuckians to get marriage licenses? Maybe supporting clergy could approve the licenses themselves. But I don’t think that would fly if the clerks could issue licenses to couples they prefer and deny them to others. Unequal treatment, hello.
They have been demanding that the Governor call a special session of the state legislature to set up online issuance of marriage licenses so that clerks don’t have to get The Ghey cooties.
